Accommodations

Soleil Pines is approximately 10 miles from downtown Duluth and 18 miles from Two Harbors. For those unfamiliar with area, Duluth is chalk full of accommodations ranging from a truly staggering number of B&B’s to the full contingent of standards (Holiday Inn, Best Western, Radisson, etc) to a range of local offerings from the classy (Beacon Pointe) to the klassy (Chalet Motel LLC, which Spectra and I have stayed in). I have no idea what’s in Two Harbors but I’m sure there are places to stay there as well. There is space on the Soleil Pines grounds for a few tents so if you’re interested in camping-style let us know. Otherwise if you’d like to cut through the fuss here are three recommendations:

Note: We stayed here once, we think, and the pictures on their site tell an accurate story (if it is indeed the place we stayed). It’s a fancy, cabin-like place. Cozy in the good way.

Note: We have not stayed here but we did scout it out. It’s geared toward larger groups that rent townhome-like places with 3-4 bedrooms.


There are a few small-ish cabin-y type places within a few miles of Soleil Pines. One of them is the afore mentioned Inn on Gitche Gumee but there a few others. We have not stayed in or scouted any of these places but they are close if, you know, you’re into the whole brevity thing, man:
